“Dare to love yourself as if you were a rainbow with gold at both ends.”

― Aberjhani

Gold: shiny, sunny, heavy, stunning,,, these are just some words that come up for me whenever I see this precious metal. Although I’m not really a big fan, I recognize that it is the most popular metal!

History of Gold

Gold has been around forever and flakes of it have been found in Paleolithic caves dating back as far as 40,000 B.C. But who knows, since according to archaeological evidence, it is found all over the world. One thing is for sure, everyone who found their own little spot of gold loved the metal.gold, plated, blue stone, earrings, tesoros, jewelry

There are numerous mentions of the metal throughout ancient historical texts as well as in modern texts. The Bible, for example mentions how King Solomon received a cargo of gold, silver, and other tradable things from Ophir, a port famous for its wealth, every three years. This is just one of the many mentions in the bible; many more are found in Genesis and in Revelations. In the latter, the streets are described as being made of pure gold.

In the “The Life of Tymon of Athens” by William Shakespeare, Alcibiades recognizes Tymon and tries to offer him his friendship by offering gold. Chaucer is another artist who references the metal in his poems. He is mostly preoccupied with its brightness and its purity. He is known for using the proverb Not all that glitters is gold in “Canon Yeoman’s Tale.” He links it symbolically to integrity.

I don’t want to bore you, but I believe it is the most mentioned metal in literature.

The metal has made such an impact in our world that an entire period of flourishing arts and literature was named after it: The Spanish Golden Age.

Such is the power of gold that alchemists were intent in their efforts to transmute base metals into it.
