Blue Zircon

The ZIRCON is one of December’s alternate birthstones. It is found in blue, red, yellow, orange, brown, and green colors. Zircon crystals grow in many different types of rocks and possess a range of optical and physical properties.

Zircon is widely found on Earth. The colorless form, called “Matara” zircon after a city in Sri Lanka near where it is mined, is so full of fire that many confuse it with diamonds. Zircon that is found in Australia is the oldest mineral on earth.

Because of its name, zircons have received a bad rap. They are not to be confused with cubic zirconias. CZs as they are sometimes called, are man-made stones, diamond simulants. Zircons are natural gemstones!

It measures 6 to 7.5 on the Mohs’ scale, making it a rather hard and durable gem.

HISTORY

Blue zircon was a specific favorite in Victorian times, when fine gems were often featured in English estate jewelry dating from the 1880s. Tiffany’s famous gemologist George Kunz was a distinguished zircon advocate.

Since the Middle Ages, people have believed that the zircon can induce sleep. They also believed that it could ward off evil and bring about prosperity, honor, and wisdom.

 

ZIRCON AND HEALTH

Zircon is said to be good for the liver and gallbladder. It’s also good for asthma, bronchitis, and allergies as well as the lungs. It is beneficial for respiratory problems in general.

They are also known to help with sluggishness and aid with muscle problems by stimulating the flow of the chi.

ZIRCON AND THE CHAKRAS

Zircon stimulates all of the chakras from the crown to the base. It works well in opening the higher realms and energizes one’s psychic abilities.

FENG SHUI

The zircon is believed to generate spiritual growth, prosperity, and success. Place a zircon in the center of a room to bring about harmony and prosperity.  It will also help you find peace and balance.

In the north, place one if you are on a personal journey. Towards the northeast, the stone will bring about wisdom, and in a southeast location, it will bring abundance and prosperity.
